ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

You simply need a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years old. For driver’s between 18 and 23 years the first lap has to be done with an Instructor on the passenger seat (you can book it together with the car).

Getting familiar with the track layout and its rules will make your experience even better. We recommend watching videos and/or playing on a simulator if you have one. You don’t need to memorise the track completely, but it’s good to be aware of some trickier sections and blind corners. Don’t get the false impression that you’ll be the fastest person out there if you know the track by heart – being fast on the Nürburgring takes patience and a lot of laps. Allowing this process to happen naturally – without rushing it – will be very rewarding!

The Nürburgring is normally open from March to November (it typically closes between December and February, unless there is great weather, which is very rare). The first and the last months of the season are typically less busy, and might even have an empty track for yourself to enjoy on a sunny day.

From April to October things get busier, but with temperatures up, these are great days to drive too. If you are driving up to five laps, come on a weekday and you’ll be sorted. If you want more, we suggest staying for a couple of days during the week or even spending the weekend with us.

To make sure you can finish all your laps, it is always better to plan a trip that allows you to come to the ring at least for one extra day. Some unpleasant surprises can happen, unfortunately, so it’s better to be prepared – more about in the session above What happens if I cannot finish the laps I booked

A Public Session happens almost every evening – from around 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm – and during most weekends – from around 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. In these sessions a Nürburgring Lap Ticket (35€) is needed for every lap you drive, and there is no limit of cars, meaning there can be more traffic. Trackdays are private events, in which you pay a fixed entry rate for the whole day (Around 1000€) and you can drive as many laps as you want or as you rented the car for. In these events there is a maximum number of slots, meaning that the traffic is controlled. Normally the drivers are also more experienced, so the day flows better. The Basic Package includes the Track Car, the Safety Briefing, the Car Introduction (setting up your driving position, fitting the racing harness, and more!) and a helmet. The car is handed to you with a full tank and must be brought back with a full tank of premium Fuel (98 RON – Super Plus). You also need to buy your own Nürburgring Lap Tickets for the desired number of laps.

The Premium Package includes all the items above plus the first full tank and lap tickets for all your laps! At the end of the day you can simply return the car with an empty tank. Don’t worry if you are only doing a few laps, we charge the fuel proportionally, according to the amount of laps you are doing.

The one you feel most comfortable with. Don’t think that the power of the car will determine how much fun you’ll have. Our cars are built to ensure you have tons of fun, so any of them will provide you an exhilarating experience – guaranteed!

If you drive cars with an automatic transmission or if you drive front wheel drive (FWD) cars, better stay with that. While on track, you want to keep your focus on the road, not on the car, so better not to try new things or driving techniques here, as there is enough new stuff to pay attention to.

Stay within your limits and consider what level of horsepower you are used to driving. What will limit you here is the racetrack, not the power of the car you are driving.

Please arrive one hour before the booked time of driving. This is extremely important as it will allow you to sign your paperwork, take part in the Driver’s Safety Briefing, find a helmet that suits you, and get familiar with the car. WATCH OUT: There is a city in Germany called Nürnberg (or Nuremberg in English). The similar names can lead to confusion, and some people can drive to this other place – which is more than 4 hours away from Nürburg!

Having an instructor sitting in the car next to you is one of the best things you can do when driving the Nürburgring. There is simply a lot to pay attention to when driving this track, and the instructor will be able to highlight what’s more important to you according to your skills. You’ll have a much safer and more relaxed driving experience.

If your intention is to learn the Nürburgring layout, come with us for a trackday and the instruction laps will incomparably speed up your process.

Track closures can happen and they are out of our control. But don’t worry, you won’t lose your laps. You are welcome to finish the remaining laps on the next day (according to availability) or at any other date you prefer, as well as receiving a Gift Voucher for the value of the remaining laps, that you or a friend can use in the next 3 years.

If you booked a car, attended the briefing, got used to the car, but it happens that the track doesn’t open that day all (due to snow, ice or fog, for example) then we will refund you 100% of what you paid. That’s why we do not release the cars to customers until we know the track is open.

Yes! Our cars fit between 2 and 4 people (See the cars description in our website) and we will also provide a helmet to the passengers. Children have to be at least 12 years old or 1,50m tall, according to German traffic regulations. You cannot use our cars to do ‘taxi laps’!

If a crash happens during a Public Session (Touristenfahrten) the police will investigate and determine who is at fault. In most cases, both parties made mistakes that lead to the accident (example: one overtakes on a tight corner and the other cuts the corner without checking his mirrors). Either way, you are responsible for paying for the damage made to our cars so we can fix them as early as possible and reduce other losses. If the other party was at fault, you have the right to be reimbursed by them or their insurance.

During a Trackday the “everyone pays their own” rule applies, meaning that you are not liable for other cars, but only for the rented car and other track damages, tow trucks and fees.

If you damage a bumper or a mirror, for example, you will just have to pay for the repair of those parts and the corresponding administrative costs. There is a maximum liability set for each car, so even if you cause multiple damages to the car and the repair estimate exceeds this limit, or if you cause the total loss of the car, you stop paying in the maximum liability.

Together with car damages, you also have to pay for the costs associated with possible barrier damages, recovery truck and other administrative fees charged by the Nürburgring administration. Many people believe that if the track needs to be closed because of an accident, the person responsible for the crash will have to pay for the period it has been closed, but that is not true, just a myth!

To avoid the headache, never drive a car whose maximum liability you cannot afford. This is a delicate topic, but it is better to make it loud and clear now to avoid bad surprises later.

Good news: If you read this FAQ, pay attention to the Basic Rules and to our Safety Briefing and drive consciously within your limits you will significantly lower the chances of something bad happening to you.

We will always investigate what caused the breakdown. If you are not responsible for the damage, you will be dismissed from any charges, including towing. If you are responsible for the damage – for example, you got the wrong gear in and over revved the engine, or went off track and damaged wheels or a bumper – then you will be obliged to cover all the costs up to the maximum liability (excess) of that specific car and third party costs, as explained above.

• Yellow flag/Flashing yellow light – Danger! Means no overtaking, reduce your speed immediately and drive through the danger spot at maximum speed of 50 km/h (~30 mph).
• Check traffic – Check your mirrors constantly, especially before turning into corners. Many fast cars will approach suddenly.
• Overtaking – Overtaking is only permitted on the left side of the car ahead of you. Marshalls will ban you from driving if you overtake on the right. No dangerous overtaking in corners or at tight places are allowed either, as the driver in front of you may have not seen you and you may be liable for an eventual accident.
• Stopping on the track – Absolutely no stopping anywhere on the track is permitted, unless you have an accident or problems with the car.
• Accidents – Do not keep driving after an accident. If possible put the car to the side of the track and jump immediately to the other side of the barriers.
• Emergency – Nordschleife emergency number 0800 0302 112.
• Leakages – If you discover a leak (coolant, oil, fuel) coming from the rented car, park it immediately at the side of the track and jump to the other side of the barriers. Warn drivers behind you (staying behind the barriers) and Call the Nordschleife emergency number: 0800 0302 112.
• You are here to have fun! – always choose appropriate speeds, better go slower than too fast in unfamiliar corners.

The Customers can be required to provide a Security Deposit to be used in the event of damage of the Rental Vehicle according to the Customers’ profile (age, experience on this track, behavior/attitude, language barriers, coming from a non-EU country, booking a top end car, as well as other criteria), at NürbLife’s own discretion.
